WEATHER Malaysia lies near the Equator between latitudes 1o and 7o North and longitudes 100o and 119o East and has an equatorial climate with fairly uniform temperature throughout the year. Temperatures range from 32o C during the day to 22o C at night. The annual rainfall ranges between 2,000 - 2,500 mm. Light or mixed-fibre clothing is normal. However, light jacket is recommended at the convention center. ENTRY FORMALITIES FOR MALAYSIA Persons entering Malaysia must possess a valid national Passport or internationally recognized Travel Document valid for travel to Malaysia. Any person not in possession of a Passport or Travel Document which is recognized by the Malaysian Government, must obtain a Document in lieu of Passport. Application for the Document in lieu of Passport can be made at any Malaysian Representative Office abroad. Holders of Travel Documents like a Certificate of Identity, Laisser Passer, Titre de Voyage or a Country's Certificate of Permanent Residence must ensure that their return to the country which issued the document or the country of residence is guaranteed. larger establishments readily accept major currencies such as USD,
Pound Sterling, Euro, Deutch
Marks and Yen.
Foreign currencies can be
readily exchanged to local currencies at a bank or
moneychanger. Major banks are open from Monday to Friday

- 1630). Internationally known credit cards including American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and JCB are accepted at hotels as well as larger business establishments in Malaysia. Travellers Cheques are accepted at banks, hotels and large departmental stores. HEALTH Cholera vaccination is NOT required for travelers entering Malaysia. Yellow fever vaccination is required for arrivals from infected areas and yellow fever endemic zones except for children under one year-old. If a person is unable to produce a valid certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever, he or she can be isolated until his or her certificate become valid or until a period of not more than six days from the last possible exposure to infection has elapsed, whichever occurs first. Please contact your health offices for further clarification. The registration fee does not cover insurance for the delegates. The Organisers strongly recommend that all participants provide their own insurance for medical care, hospital treatment and travel. Medical care in Malaysia is of a high standard and there are several excellent hospitals in Kuala Lumpur. ELECTRICITY Malaysia’s voltage is 220 to 240 volts AC using 3-pin switch sockets. You may require a 2-way safety plug should you be using 2-pin plugs. PLANT QUARANTINE All passenger must declare the following items to the Plant Quarantine Office upon arrival: Plants and plant parts including fresh plant produce and processed products, soil and growth/rooting media, insects, micro-organisms, herbarium specimens and dried flowers. Passengers from South and Central America and Central Africa are required to report to the Plant Quarantine Office on arrival.
